Always open and never any overdue fines!

Submitted for your approval, a few of the many items that catch my eye while on this vast wasteland called the web. Unless noted, I have copied the page and uploaded it in-house. If the link takes you out of Randlemanland, it will be noted.

Even though "Last Meals on Death Row" has been discontinued you can still check the SMU Death Penalty Page for Pending Executions!

THE GOOD STUFF

From the New York Post, Mushnick hits the nail on the head with the whole Dennis Miller-Monday Night Football farce. Some of us still think the game is enough. (7/02)

The LA Times with an article about my man Jethro's favorite baseball player the reborn Bo Belinsky. (7/02)

From the New York Times, a look at a Mississippi man's battle to prove his daddy was the great bluesman Robert Johnson. I guess not all of Robert's love was in vain. (6/20)

The LA Times article about the current wave of short films on the web. Get your cameras out folks. (6/20)

The incomparable APB Online hits another homer with the FBI's look at the Beach Boys. One quote hit a little to close to where Randlemanland lives, "In the 1970s and early 1980s, Brian was an unkempt 320-pound dissolute," the bureau memo reads, paraphrasing an article in The Washington Post. "He was disdaining all moderation in food and alcohol and was careless of the amount of drugs he consumed." And that is a bad thing I gather? (Direct Link) (5/12)

May Day brings distressin' news from my beloved South! (The Onion) (5/1)

Phil Mushnick from the NY Post captures why it becoming harder and harder to remain a sports fan. (Direct Link) (4/26)

This NYT article made me long for my ole Ozark home and some of that real Mountain Dew! (4/16)

APB Online's story on the Feds and one of my favorites, Chet Baker. The article is worth it just to see the photos of a pre-junkie Baker and another years later. Show it to your kids. (2/26)

Salon's look at the career of one of my muses Lucinda Williams. (2/14)

The ever-increasing and comedy genius market. From the NY Times. (2/5)

"Here is the story of the Hurricane/And the facts the filmmakers did distain/By leaving out stuff and painting with a broad bruuush/the audience gets the bums ruuuush. The Hurricane, was the third film in a row that I saw "based on a true story." Actually, the true story was much more disturbing. I find the Hollywood's "Oliver Stoning" of history, more than a little distrubing. Other offenders include "The Insider" and "Boys Don't Cry." (2/4)

Soon we will all be making movies. Two articles about the Digital Video movement. One from January & one from November. Both from the NY Times. (11/22)

BERNIE BRILLSTEIN, the man who I thought would be my manager by now, in a New York Times article pushing his book. Looks like a must read. (11/18)

THE SAD STORY OF JOHN "THE COUNT" MONTEFUSCO from Phil Mushnick of the NY Post. From NL Rookie of the Year to the slam. Direct link to NY Post. (11/17)

"FAT GUYS KICK ASS" according to Salon's Steven A. Shaw. Female readers pay special attention to "why woman in the know prefer fat men in bed." If you need further convincing, Randlemanland is available. Direct link to Salon. (11/16)

ATHLETES KILLED IN PLANE CRASHES appeared in the New York Times after the Payne Stewart accident. (11/16)

THE FIGHT FIXING BUSINESS from the Miami Herald (check out the five shots of one George Forman "knockout") & A LIST OF TAINTED BOUTS. My man Butterbean doesn't come off the well. (11/16)

SOUTHERNS LOSING THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE. My beloved south is getting bigger. Maybe because every stinkin' restaurant has a buffet. (11/16)
